Juan Carlos

Juan Carlos—affectionately known as JC—is a 10-year-old, itty-bitty chihuahua with a personality ten times his size. Before coming to Avello, JC spent his life in a puppy mill, where he was used solely for breeding designer “purse dogs.” Like so many dogs in those heartbreaking conditions, he was never seen for who he truly is—just a number in a system that valued profit over life.

But the moment JC came into our care, everything changed.

Despite his rough beginnings, JC quickly began to flourish under love, attention, and freedom. His charisma, charm, and big chihuahua attitude made it impossible not to fall in love. He fit right into our pack like he’d been here all along—strutting with confidence, cozying up for naps, and melting hearts with his signature side-eye.

Originally brought in as a foster, JC didn’t take long to win us over completely. It was clear this little guy had found his forever place with us. He may be small, but he brings a mighty energy, and his resilience is as inspiring as it is endearing.

JC is now living the life he always deserved—safe, adored, and completely in charge (at least, in his mind). He reminds us daily why we do what we do, and how even the tiniest souls can leave the biggest impact.
